Silicone Gellhorn pessary with short stem
Only gynaecologists/general practitioners are qualified to give advice and information on the choice and use of the device.
The Gellhorn pessary is the best alternative to the cube pessary, especially in cases in which the patient has complications associated with incontinence. Although the silicone material makes it soft and adaptable, it should be pointed out that this model has a certain degree of stiffness.
This characteristic makes it suitable above all when greater vaginal wall support and the repositioning of any cystocele or rectocele are required. There are holes on the cap of the pessary, suggesting that it is particularly ideal for use by patients with heavy vaginal discharge. It is also indicated for the conservative treatment of the female genital organs, including vaginal vault prolapse after hysterectomy.
The silicone mushroom pessary features a dish-shaped part with drainage holes, connected to a handle with a knob that facilitates its use. This knob is designed to keep it as deep as possible within the vagina. Use of this device is possible when other types of pessary prove ineffective. The pessary is inserted into the vagina to provide the pelvic organs with additional support. This restores the anatomical relationship between the pelvic organs and prevents/reduces the possibility of a prolapse. The size is stated on the product and on the label. It is used for 2nd and 3rd degree prolapse, cystocele and rectocele.
