The perforated cervical pessary is dish-shaped with lateral drainage holes and is indicated for preventing premature births in women at risk of prolapse, who are subject to physical stress such as prolonged standing, increased intrauterine pressure (polyhydramnios/multiple pregnancies) or short cervix and for pregnant women with cervicoisthmic incompetence. The purpose of this pessary is not to occlude the cervix, rather to reduce tension on the cervical tissue and alter the uterocervical angle. The duration of its continuous use must be established by qualified medical personnel. The size is stated on the product and on the label.
