What are the risks?

i rischi del prolasso uterino

The risks are those associated with surgery in general, namely anaesthesiological, haemorrhagic, thromboembolic and infections risks. It is also necessary to take into consideration the risks specific to surgery for uterine prolapse and urinary incontinence:

  • recurrence of the prolapse, which can occur within a short period of time, if the factors that cause the condition persist;
  • urinary disorders such as the persistence or onset of urinary incontinence, onset of fluid retention, and onset of autonomous bladder, due to bladder nerve damage;
  • problems during sexual intercourse, as a result of the loss of vaginal capacity, causing pain during intercourse.
